Can I return my books early and check-out new ones?
Yes. Students may get a hall pass from their teacher and come to the media center in the morning before their first class (8:30 - 8:45) to return their books and check out new ones.
What do I do if I lost my library book?
Students are responsible for the books that they check out of the media center. If you have lost a book, tell Mrs. Laswell. She will print out a slip with the name of the book, the return due date, and the cost of the book for you to take home. When the book has been paid for it will be taken off of a student's record. We do not give a refund if a book is found. The monies are used to replace a lost book or to purchase new books .
Overdue notices are sent home twice a quarter to remind students and parents to look for overdue media books.
What do I do if I damaged my library book?
Library books are read many times over the school year and minor damage is expected. Some books are not well bound and loose their pages easily. Please let us know if you find a ripped or loose page in one of your books. We will fix it if we can and put the book back in the collection.
However, sometimes a book has been so badly damaged that it cannot be put back in the collection. Examples would be: if it is water damaged and the pages are warped and moldy, if the pages have been marked with crayon or ink, or if the book has been chewed on by a family pet. In this case, a student may be required to pay for a replacement book. Practicing good book care can keep clean books on our media shelves for many years.
